MRI Results

Well we were not able to go last night. They had to put her under for the MRI and because she has a history of not breathing they just wanted to monitor her through the night. The MRI results came back and the tumor has not grown at all! The neurologists are saying that since it has not grown then it is definitely a tumor that she has had since birth and that it is not cancer. Lacey had a good night and actually got some sleep. The hospital released her first thing this morning but she still had a appt. with the epileptic neurologist Dr. Akman at 2:30pm.

Dr. Akman told us at Lacey's appt. that she is going to take her case to a panel of doctors that meet on Tuesday. It is a group of neurosurgeons and neurologists that get together and discuss what the best case of action for a patient would be. Dr. Akman would like to take the tumor out as soon as possible rather than waiting because it is irritating her brain and that is why she is having so many seizures. Another reason she would like to take it out asp is because she does not want it to hold Lacey back. She said that Lacey is very advanced for her age. Dr. Akman wants to see what the surgeons say before we move forward. She is getting the opinion of a experience neurosurgeon that is on the panel. Lacey had two seizures today but they have been alot shorter and less intense. Dr. Akman does not think that the medicine is going to be able to stop the seizures all together because of how the tumor is affecting Lacey. She said if we can get them down to one a day then that would be ok. I will know more on Tuesday after Dr. Akman calls me.
