August 28th
Lacey had a rough night. I forgot to put in yesterday's post about the two seizures that she had yesterday afternoon. She had them with her eyes close but we could see her left eye twitching underneath her eye lid. They only lasted about 10 seconds. The neurologist warned us that she could have some seizures after the surgery. He said that she could have them do to the trauma from the surgery and the fact that her brain needs a little time to adjust to the fact that the tumor is gone. He told us not to worry that they are going to continue. Lacey is going to be on anti-seizure medicine for about 3 to 6 months then we will start to decrease the dose till she is not taking any meds. Now onto last night. About 8:00 p.m. we found out that they wanted to do a cat scan because she was having the seizures. They wanted to make sure that her brain was not swelling. The results came back and there is no added swelling. Before they took her down for the cat scan she started to throw up. She basically threw up everything that she ate yesterday. The nurse ended up giving her nausea medicine after the cat scan. Lacey was having a lot of pain after the cat scan. We had to end up giving her two doses of morphine and some Tylenol before 3:00 a.m. After that she slept good until about 8 then she woke up because she was being messed with so much. At that point we gave her some more Tylenol and she drank 2 ozs of formula. She then fell right back to sleep. Lacey is now going to receive the nausea medicine all day so she can hopefully keep some food down and get some strength back. The earliest that she is going to be able to go home is tomorrow but I am not sure if that is going to happen.
